Dear Sirs,
The Center for American & European Studies (an entity conducting primarily scientific activities independently and continuously) invites you to participate in the National Scientific Conference "Holiday - ritual - habit - tradition - rule. Interdisciplinary approach".
➡ When?
The conference will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 between 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The length of the conference depends on the number of speakers. In the event of a high number of applications, we reserve the right to extend the conference to Saturday, December 20, 2025.
➡ What is the conference about?
The main objective of the conference is to discuss holidays, rituals, traditions, rules, and habits in all their dimensions.
We will approach this issue from the perspective of social sciences and humanities (law, psychology, history, religious studies, political science, sociology, philosophy, international relations, economics, etc.), as well as culture and art (film, literature, music).
We encourage you to freely choose the topic of your presentation according to your own interests and specialization. Presentations can be interdisciplinary, combining various fields of science.
Topics can be of both contemporary and historical importance and concern all problems, regardless of their geographical boundaries (Poland, Ukraine, Europe in general or other countries, e.g. the United States, China, Brazil, Ecuador, Tunisia, Mongolia). Conference panels will be arranged according to chronological and geographical criteria.
We believe in the freedom of academic discussion and do not censor presentations for ideological or political reasons. Original and unconventional presentations will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.
Examples of proposed thematic areas:
Commercialization of Christmas. Halloween vs. All Saints' Day.
Developing good habits.
Law as a set of rules. Common law vs. statutory law.

Historical sources of laws and traditions
The above-mentioned thematic areas are only examples - we strongly encourage you to go beyond them.
